I loved this book.
Authentic, humorous, unique...it's the stuff of magic. Aya is a new adult on the verge of becoming herself in a village in Ivory Coast. Like young women anywhere else in the world, these young women navigate dating, societal pressures, and family issues.
The story follows three friends who meet up at bars, sneak out of windows to kiss boys, and have shot gun weddings. The pictures are vivid and fresh and I found myself instantly absorbed.
The story contains laugh out loud moments, as well as some truly great scenes of everyday West African life. I read it in one sitting, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Recommendation: Read it!
Audience: Millenials and Beyond
